Watch: Pat McAfee loses it over video of “bullsh*t” Patrick Mahomes – Xavier Worthy play at Chiefs training camp
Patrick Mahomes really hoped the Chiefs would draft Texas speedster Xavier Worthy in the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft. Kansas City granted his wish, and Mahomes is hard at work trying to make general manager Brett Veach look like a genius for taking Worthy 28th overall in April.
Chiefs training camp is underway, with all players taking part for the first time Sunday at the team’s pre-season base on the campus of Missouri Western State University. And already, Mahomes is making a huge effort to incorporate Worthy into the Kansas City offense, which performed below its usual standard last season despite an eventual Super Bowl LVIII win. On the first day of training camp, with the Chiefs’ complete roster in attendance, the Mahomes-Worthy connection looks as if it could determine success or failure in 2024.
Xavier Worthy is already turning heads
In Sunday’s practice session, Mahomes and Worthy linked up for a really exciting play that has Chiefs fans hailing the first-round pick as their new Tyreek Hill. Rolling to his left, Mahomes threw a ridiculous 60-yard pass into space for Worthy, who hauled it in and jogged the rest of the way for a touchdown.

The play drew huge celebrations from Travis Kelce and Chiefs linemen, excited to see the rookie standing out already. Mahomes found great success with Rashee Rice in 2023 during the former SMU star’s rookie season — but with Rice now possibly facing a lengthy suspension after a street racing incident in March, Worthy has every chance to stake his claim for a vital role in the Chiefs’ offense: the #2 target behind Kelce.
Words are hard to describe this bomb from Patrick Mahomes to Xavier Worthy. Mahomes rolling to his left off platform, Worthy with the over the shoulder catch. This is not normal. https://t.co/obQlO5A2QP

The scamper-and-score elicited a strong reaction from ESPN’s Pat McAfee, the former punter who now hosts “The Pat McAfee Show.” On X/Twitter, the controversial McAfee proclaimed Mahomes as being “back on his bullsh*t” with a play that should make the rest of the NFL tremble with fear.
